The Oscar nominations arrive Thursday morning(not only atypical on that day of the week, but also this early in January), and each awards seasons I wonder how many Best Picture nominees I will have seen come the announcements. I believe I had seen all last year, and that I was 9 out of 10 in 2010. So, whereas the majority of filmgoers are playing catch up by nomination time—this geek is usually ahead of the game. How will I fare this season? I will tell you that I am set to review “Zero Dark Thirty”, “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and “Looper” in the next day few days—so you can add those to the roster. In fact, I’m pretty confident that the only one I will not have viewed yet will be “Les Miserables”—I plan to suffer through that later in January(my hopes are obviously not high). Also, I imagine, the foreign language “Amour” has a shot. Everything else should be contained within the fifty-three 2012 releases I’ve witnessed or reviewed on the blog, so far. Am I correct, or will I fall short? We’ll find out in less than two days.
