So, if you didn’t appreciate “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” when it arrived in theaters on March 25th, is the “Ultimate Edition” Blu-ray/DVD going to change your view? Maybe not. But I DID like Zack Snyder’s “BvS” when I saw it in IMAX 3D, on its U.S. opening day–so 30 minutes of additional footage has this critic pretty excited. New characters, clearer focus, and an upgrade to an ‘R’ rating? That’s what’s being promised, and I can barely stand the wait to experience this baby on my home theater system. You see, I’ve grown accustomed to Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, after years of teenage bliss with Christopher Reeve. And I look forward to where Ben Affleck is going to take the Batman character in the DC Extended Universe. And please, pretty please, concerning more footage of the awesome Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. Hey, it appears that this film will tap out at just under 900 million at the worldwide box office. That’s a HUGE figure for many blockbusters, but considered a disappointment when considering the production costs and promotional budget involved here (“Captain America: Civil War” has raked in over 1.1 billion, and is still going strong, by comparison). Will the “BvS” take shine brighter, when the digital release arrives on June 28th, followed by the Blu-ray on July 19th? My bet is that it’s a massive seller. Many who skipped it in theaters, will jump on board now. And mark my words…this film will be critically reevaluated for the better, over time.
